MEDEA project was invited to the 2nd Annual workshop of EU-HYBNET project, that took place in Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome on Wednesday April 6th, 2022. The workshop featured security related topics focusing on technological and non-technological innovations and ideas in areas such as: Future trends in hybrid threats, Cyber and Future Technologies, Resilient civilians and local admin, Information and strategic communication. A number of more than 60 participants were present physically and remotely that day. The audience consisted of Policy Makers, SMEs, Academics, and Research Centers all around Europe.
The event kicked off with some interesting presentations of keynote speakers from DG Home, EUROPOL and the European Center of Excellence for countering Hybrid Threats. Following the EU-HYBNET project presented their latest findings and results such as the gaps and needs to counter hybrid threats, innovations and standardization activities and then the project welcome some pitches from SMEs and other projects.
Since the discussions had a focus on Innovation ideas to counter hybrid threats, MEDEA’s coordinator Mr. George Kokkinis from KEMEA (Center for Security Studies) gave a presentation highlighting findings and insights as resulted within the MEDEA project.
He initially identified the term of Innovation, and stressed out the most common uptake challenges of innovation. He mentioned that Innovation depends on the methodology applied also in MEDEA the THOR analysis which is an analysis based on Technological, Human, Organisational and Regulation factors. Closing his presentation Mr. Kokkinis featured the most significant gaps identified in the area of Management in Migration Flows and mentioned a relevant workshop which will be organized by MEDEA consortium on May 3rd bringing together practitioners and solutions providers.
