EUvsVirus Results
The EUvsVirus Hackathon Jury identified the best solutions to support European and global in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak. In collaboration with private and public partners from Europe and beyond, we are awarding the best teams and solutions per domain as well as a winner and two runner-ups for each of the 37 challenges. Altogether 117 out of 2160 solutions!
The COVID-19 Detect & Protect Challenge (UNDP)
As COVID-19 has shown, challenge and crisis cross borders – impacting everywhere on Earth. However, innovation and ingenuity are not constrained by geography. The COVID-19 Detect and Protect Challenge is an opportunity to find and apply the best and brightest of humanity, wherever it may be found.

The European Commission, in close collaboration with the EU member states, will host a pan-European hackathon to connect civil society, innovators, partners and investors across Europe in order to develop innovative solutions for coronavirus-related challenges.

EU leaders committed to do everything possible to support research, to coordinate efforts and seek synergies within the European scientific and research community. They also underlined that there is an urgent need to share scientific information and to collaborate both within the EU and worldwide. They committed to increase and accelerate support to European research teams and companies in this respect.

EU Standards for Protective Equipment
In light of the COVID-19 crisis, some of the European standards for certain medical devices and personal protective equipment can now be downloaded for free. This includes the 11 standards developed by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and 3 additional ones developed jointly with ISO.
