Joint workshop on fighting crime with focus to drugs and people trafficking

CO-organisers MEDEA and I-LEAD network of practitioners. The focus of the workshop was the challenges Law Enforcement Agencies are facing when they are combating drug trafficking. The drug seizures by Law Enforcement in many cases are as a result of intelligence led investigations, and/or through detection of drugs using a range of techniques. However, criminal gangs are becoming more sophisticated in their drug trafficking activities using technological solutions to cover their tracks, such as encrypted communication devices, jammers etc.  They are also becoming more innovative in ways of concealment and becoming better at understanding counter surveillance methodologies

MEDEA is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 – Research and Innovation Framework Programme, under grant agreement no 787111
