Press Release - MEDEA RDI Days TCP 2

The MEDEA Project, after launching an Open Call for Academia and Industry for Ideas and Solutions, organised an RDI Day event, so that security stakeholders, industries, academia, research organisations and SMEs could present pertinent solutions to MEDEA members and practitioners regarding Border Management and Surveillance.

The event took place virtually on March 9th, 2022,  giving ample opportunity to industries to present their technologies in order to fill the practitioners’ operational gaps pertinent to Border Management.  More than eighty (80) participants (industry, researchers, practitioners) registered online at this event, of whom, more than sixty-five (65) were present at peak time.

In the first part of the RDI Day, an array of solutions and ideas were presented by thirteen solution providers and invited relevant projects, whereas in the second part, a fruitful discussion ensued regarding how to best bridge gaps and solutions, what needs to be done next, and how innovations and products can be optimally tailor-made to respond to the practitioners’ needs and better address their operational challenges.

Understandably, the event offered a unique opportunity to gather both solution providers and practitioners, where the former could present their solutions to possible end-users, and the latter could share their needs and insights about existing solutions. Further, the event boosted interaction and created communication channels between all involved stakeholders, the latter being a main advantage of the event and a central consideration of the MEDEA Project, as the overarching goal is to establish a prolific and continuous interaction of all involved parties, even after the conclusion of the project.
